  • The entrance to the old quaker burial ground
A Short History

Ballymurrin was settled in the 1670's by a family of Quakers from England. Ballymurrin House is a remarkable survival of early Quaker settlement in Ireland, It has a simple, dignified architecture around an open courtyard, and is surrounded by a lovely 18th century undulating landscape of fields and trees.

Adjacent to the house is the Ballymurrin Quaker Burial Ground, in use from the 1670's until the 1850's (pictured).

The House is no longer used as a farm; the fields are incorporated in the adjacent dairy farm and grazed by Friesian cattle.
